Welcome!
You lucky web surfer who have just stumbled on my DMusic page, a page Ive constructed that in theory shall get me away from the dreaded land of Myspace (although if you wish to see it, www.myspace.com/axeguy) and give me a community were I can share the wonderful process of music creation with likeminded musically minded individuals.
Im thinking this can be a place for my new blog, but here I can actually talk about my music with people caring, since I doubt most members of myspace contain the cognitive capacity to understand the finer points of the music world.
I supose for every new piece I upload Ill write a bit about it in here, but since I've uploaded many at once I dont have the time or patience to write about them all now. But alas, here you will find various music experiments ive conducted that IN THEORY should in the long run make me a more knowledgable and better musician/composer.
One could argue my music contained here is alot of self indulgence and not so listener friendly, and belive me, they do, but what they dont seem to understand, as they try to suggest a more commercial route to me, is that I really dont care. Im not trying to become famous, nor am I particularly wanting a following of mindless "individuals" because frankly this rat race to a record label that so many of my peers join, honestly believing 'they are the one/s' is 9.99 times out of 10 sadly mistaken or atleast in vain.
Does our 'precious' music industries care about the good of mankind? does it really want to release challenging and cuttin edge/ innovative and insteresting music? of course not, it wants to keep pumping out bands on a integrity-less youthfull conveyor belt of disposable, good lookin and easily marketable bands, and once there fashion river has ran dry (see my ever so rubbish use of metaphors...) they can just be forgotten about, in such a sly and unnoticable way, that only such evil multi-million pound co-orporations can.
Sure, I'm aware I come across as one of those pretencious, 'up their own arses' kinda independant 'individuals' who like to knock 'the man' at every chance they get, but behind my somewhat unstructured rant I have a point to make:
I dont want to become famous, nor have mindless "individuals" following me like a cult, becuase well, I want a real career in music, a respected composer, a hired session man, and arranger, a teacher, and frankly all of them at once. And while I'm young I'd like to perfect my composition, my grasp of throughley musical Ideas, as well as my improvisation, while my mind remains fruitfal and young, and the best way to achieve that is to be different and try new often obsure ideas, without the worry of bringing in the cash that one experiences when they have the responsiblities of a real adult.
Why waste my time searching for a record deal? in a world with millions of people doing the same thing, all hoping for the same future, when we know full well the odds are against us, and we know full well that, when we turn on the TV and do see the bands who have made it (for a short time before returning to there life of mediocrity), that its not about how good you are, its about sheer luck.
So heres my justification, and I'm probably preaching to the converted, but people have annoyed me in the past and im trying to seem educated and give off a good impression to you DMusic kinda people.
And to sum up, although my music isnt as challenging or innovative as this rant my suggest (by a long shot), my music here, while not all perfect is simply me, a guy still in the middle of his education, pushing himself and hoping im better for it, without the worry of a job, or bills while I still can, and hoping that when that time comes I'm in the best possible position to survive.
And im sure theres plenty to enjoy, and after reading this hearing my music is gonna be a bit of a anti climax!
Anyway, peace out, you patient people
